BCHC supports healthy aging at BCRPA’s ‘Aging Forward’ event

BC Healthy Communities (BCHC) staff joined professionals from across the province on June 21-22, 2025, for Aging Forward: Connection & Inclusion Through Recreation, an inaugural event hosted by the BC Recreation & Parks Association (BCRPA) at Langara College in Vancouver.
As an event sponsor, BCHC highlighted its support for age-friendly initiatives and its commitment to fostering social connection and well-being for older adults. The event brought together practitioners in recreation, health and social services to explore how inclusive recreational opportunities can enhance the lives of aging populations.
BCHC Executive Director Vanessa Manuel and Age-friendly Communities Program Lead Alyssa Roehrich were on hand at the BCHC booth, engaging with attendees throughout the day.
“We had the opportunity to connect with professionals from a wide range of sectors – health, recreation, local government and more,” said Roehrich. “It was encouraging to see so much shared interest in creating supportive, inclusive environments where older adults can thrive.”
The event marked an important opportunity to share best practices and strengthen partnerships focused on supporting healthy aging across British Columbia.
