2026 PlanH Healthy Communities grants open April 7

The 2026 PlanH Healthy Communities Grants are opening for application on April 7. The grants, administered by BC Healthy Communities, are offered across two funding streams: Community Connectedness and Healthy Public Policy.
The Community Connectedness funding stream offers grants of up to $5,000 each for projects that foster relationship-building among community members and create long-lasting partnerships. The Healthy Public Policy stream provides grants of up to $15,000 each for projects that seek to develop new or amend existing policies to improve the health and well-being of community members. Projects for both streams must use an equity lens to ensure their outcomes benefit those historically excluded from local decision-making processes, or whose needs have not been adequately met by existing policies and programs.
“Healthy communities don’t happen by accident — they’re built through intentional policies, strong relationships, and meaningful community leadership,” said Vanessa Manuel, Executive Director of BC Healthy Communities. “The PlanH Healthy Communities Grants support local and Indigenous governments to advance equity-driven initiatives that respond to real community needs and create lasting, positive change.”
Applications in the Healthy Public Policy stream must align with one or more of the following six priorities outlined in the B.C. Ministry of Health’s Population, Public Health Framework – Best Start in Life, Health Impacts of Climate Change, Communicable Disease Prevention & Response, Non-communicable Disease & Injury Prevention, Prevention & Reduction of Substance-related Harms and Population Mental Health & Wellness. Initiatives that align with one or more of the six priorities, and advance Truth, Rights & Reconciliation, health equity and anti-racism are more likely to be funded.
“For communities across the province, the opening of the 2026 PlanH Healthy Communities Grants is great news,” said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health. “These grants support Indigenous and local government projects that focus on equity, collaboration and sustainability. By investing in these initiatives, we’re helping communities develop local, tailor-made solutions that strengthen health, connection and resilience across British Columbia.”
Applications close on June 2. Join us for an info session from 10 to 11 am on April 16 to ask questions and learn more about the application process.
Funded by the B.C. Ministry of Health and administered by BC Healthy Communities Society, the PlanH program supports local and Indigenous governments to create healthier communities through resources, practices and learning opportunities that focus on people, society and the environment.
