Round Three of the Healthy Communities Capacity Building fund provided support for local governments in BC who are leading the way in creating the conditions that enable healthy people and healthy places – in partnership with regional health authorities and other key community stakeholders.
Round Three of the Fund provides two streams of support:
Stream One – Seeding Healthy Small, Rural and Remote Communities
This stream is for small, rural, and remote communities. It includes grants of up to $5,000, along with online resources, webinars, and other capacity building support.
Stream Two – Growing Impact: BC’s Next Level of Healthy Communities Leadership
This stream is for communities of any size, and provides an integrated suite of support including learning events, coaching, a community of practice, and grants of up to $15,000.

Stream One: Seeding Healthy Small, Rural and Remote Communities
The Seeding Stream is for small, rural, and remote communities.i It includes grants of up to $5,000, along with other capacity building support.
The Growing Impact stream provides an opportunity for one community from each health authority region across BC to achieve measurable progress towards innovative, upstream solutions in one or more of the following areas: healthy eating and food security, tobacco reduction, physical activity, healthy early childhood development, positive mental health and well-being, culture of moderation for alcohol use, injury prevention, and healthy built environment.
Selected communities will be invited into the inaugural healthy communities learning and leadership cohort. Through this cohort, they will be supported to better understand and influence systems change, to accelerate learning and measure outcomes, to collaborate more effectively across sectors, and to innovate upstream for greater impact.

In both streams, partnership development and collaboration between local governments, health authorities, and other community stakeholders is a priority, as is working upstreamii for greater impact in one or more of the following focus areas:
- healthy eating and food security
- tobacco reduction
- physical activity
- healthy early childhood development
- positive mental health and well-being
- culture of moderation for alcohol use
- injury prevention
- planning for a healthy built environment

We ask that projects funded through the Healthy Communities Capacity Building Fund (HCCBF) include written acknowledgment of funding in materials produced as a result of the HCCBF. This includes publicity, conferences, meeting presentations, printed pieces or any other materials that are public and promotional in nature.
