The grants,\u202fadministered by BC Healthy Communities, are offered across two funding streams: Community Connectedness and Healthy Public Policy.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Community Connectedness funding stream offers grants of up to $5,000 each for projects that foster relationship-building among community members and create long-lasting&nbsp;partnerships. The Healthy Public Policy stream provides grants of up to $15,000 each for projects that seek to develop new or amend existing policies to improve the health and well-being of community members.\u202fProjects for both streams must use an equity lens to ensure their outcomes&nbsp;benefit&nbsp;those historically excluded from local decision-making processes, or whose needs have not been adequately met by existing policies and programs.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cHealthy communities don\u2019t happen by accident \u2014 they\u2019re built through intentional policies, strong relationships, and meaningful community leadership,\u201d said Vanessa Manuel, Executive Director of BC Healthy Communities. \u201cThe&nbsp;PlanH&nbsp;Healthy Communities Grants support local and Indigenous governments to advance equity-driven initiatives that respond to real community needs and create lasting, positive change.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications in the Healthy Public Policy stream must align with one or more of the following six priorities&nbsp;outlined in the B.C. Ministry of Health\u2019s Population, Public Health Framework&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;Best Start in Life, Health Impacts of Climate Change, Communicable Disease Prevention &amp; Response, Non-communicable Disease &amp; Injury Prevention, Prevention &amp; Reduction of Substance-related Harms and Population Mental Health &amp; Wellness. Initiatives that align with one or more of the six priorities, and advance Truth, Rights &amp; Reconciliation, health&nbsp;equity&nbsp;and anti-racism are more likely to be funded.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor communities across the province, the opening of the 2026&nbsp;PlanH&nbsp;Healthy Communities Grants is great news,\u201d said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health. \u201cThese grants support Indigenous and local government projects that focus on equity,&nbsp;collaboration&nbsp;and sustainability.
