UTown@UBC: Community-building Celebration Event (Project)

BC Healthy Communities (BCHC) is planning and coordinating a community-building event for the diverse community of UTown@ University of British Columbia (UBC). We proposed an engaging, inter-active, and celebratory event beyond the scope of a traditional community event. Key community stakeholders are actively engaged throughout the proces where asset- based community-building and arts-based engagement is woven throughout the project activities.

Project Objectives:

  • In partnership with the UBC Campsus and Cummunity Planning , work with key stakeholders on campus to design a community building event that bridges the various “sub-communities” on campus by celebrating shared values and assets
  • Foster a sense of community amongst residents through dynamic, multi-cultural, inter-generational, and family-friendly activities
  • Celebrate the diversity of residents on campus through an event focused on cultivating a sense of belonging, inclusion, and connection to the place residents live, work and learn together.
