Sustainable Communities

"While we can point to many ways in which energy contributes to our quality of life, almost all forms of energy use have health costs associated with them" (Trevor Hancock, Public Health Report, 2000).

A truly functional, sustainable, livable and healthy community integrates and complements the natural environment which in turn, helps to reduce environmental impacts and promotes physical activity, psychological wellbeing and healthier outcomes for all community members.
BCHC works with a wide range of planners, local governments and health practitioners to address all aspects of a healthy, sustainable community.  Our recent focus has been on supporting local governments around critical issues such as effectively engaging the broader community around climate action and energy efficiency.
