Fran Baum is a Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor of Public Health and Director of the Southgate Institute of Health, Society and Equity at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, and was a member of the WHO Commission on the Social Determinants of Health from 2005 – 2008. She will discuss the relatively disappointing uptake of CSDH ideas and focus on the areas where there had been some success (including Health in all policies in South Australia) and about the possible reasons for the slow uptake.

Trevor Hancock is a Professor and Senior Scholar at the School of Public Health and Social policy. He was a member of the Commission's Knowledge Network on Urban Settlements. For the past 4 years he has been leading a CPHA initiative on the ecological determinants of health, and he will discuss the need for an integrated approach to the ecological and social determinants of health.
