Youth Engagement Strategy (YES) Castlegar (2011) (Project)

BC Healthy Communities (BCHC) worked with the City of Castlegar to develop a ‘Youth Engagement Strategy that was supported by Columbia Basin Trust's Youth Grants.  BCHC brought together youth, service providers, schools, parents and local government for a comprehensive community engagement session.  We developed and facilitated a series of surveys, asset mapping sessions, key informant interviews, and consultations with youth, service providers, and the community at large.

Project Objectives:

  • To help define the role of local government in supporting youth engagement and their relationships with service providers;
  • To provide a roadmap for local government and service providers on how to provide long-term, sustainable engagement that builds on the current opportunities of the CDYF; and,
  • To use research tools to ensure a full spectrum of youth and service provider voices and views are heard.
